Emerald Rugby Journal

Editorial policy

Emerald Rugby Journal aims to publish clear, careful writing about rugby culture and club life. Our editorial choices put reader understanding first and make the nature of material visible.

Accuracy and context

We check factual statements against suitable sources and take care with names, terminology and historical context. Where a point is uncertain or accounts differ, we say so rather than smoothing away the uncertainty. We do not present general information as a substitute for specialist advice or local rule checks.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure favourable treatment for a partner. Any paid, supplied or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial coverage. A partnership does not guarantee positive coverage, and commercial arrangements do not determine editorial conclusions.

Corrections

If a factual error is identified, we review it and correct it when warranted. Significant changes should be made clear in the relevant article so readers can understand what changed. Readers can send a correction through the Contact page, with the article and the detail in question.

Images and illustrations

Some illustrations may be AI-generated. Where that applies, the image is identified as an illustration rather than documentary evidence. We do not use an illustrative image to imply that a depicted event or person is real.

Our view of the game

Rugby belongs to everyone who makes room for it

The game is shaped by more than the action on the pitch. Its kit, customs and shared work deserve a closer look.
